JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Chinese automaker Jaecoo is demonstrating its seriousness in the Indonesian market, as evidenced by the increased distribution of vehicle units in recent months. As background, one of Jaecoo’s products, the J5 EV, received a positive response since its first launch. Booking orders are claimed to have reached 15,000 units by March 2026. Business Unit Director of Jaecoo Indonesia, Jim Ma, stated that deliveries of the Jaecoo J5 EV to consumers are now stable at around thousands of units each month. “Now we are delivering about 3,000 units,” said Jim Ma, when met in South Jakarta on Saturday (11/4/2026). He explained that this achievement has occurred in the last two months. In March and February 2026, distribution was around 3,000 units each. Meanwhile, in January 2026, the distribution figure was still lower. This was due to production capacity that was not yet optimal at that time. Based on Gaikindo data, sales of the Jaecoo J5 EV have indeed recorded an increase. In January 2026, wholesale distribution was 1,942 units, then rising to 2,926 units in February 2026. To support the increased distribution, Jaecoo is relying on two production facilities in Indonesia. Jim Ma explained that production currently involves collaboration with two factories, namely those of Handal Indonesia Motor and Inchcape. This step is seen as an important strategy for Jaecoo to meet the continuously growing market demand, while also accelerating vehicle delivery times to consumers. With increasingly stable production capacity, Jaecoo aims to strengthen its position in the national automotive market, especially amid increasingly tight competition in the passenger vehicle segment.
