Jabodebek LRT Monitors and Evaluates Safety and Service Quality
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Safety and ease of access are important aspects of public transport services. To review compliance with service standards, the Transport Ministry’s Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) conducted monitoring and evaluation of the railway Public Service Obligation (PSO) at Jabodebek LRT on 15–16 October 2026.
The inspection covered station facilities and trainsets, from safety and emergency facilities to infrastructure supporting passengers’ access to services. The exercise formed part of an evaluation of compliance with the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) under Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 63 of 2019.
Random checks were conducted at five stations—Dukuh Atas BSI, Cikunir 1, Kuningan, Harjamukti and TMII—and on 10 trainsets. Safety aspects inspected included the availability of fire extinguishers, emergency stairs, emergency assembly points, platform safety barriers and first-aid kits.
The inspection also covered facilities supporting accessibility and passenger comfort, including lifts, escalators, accessible toilets, tactile paving, breastfeeding rooms, health posts and travel information systems. Ticket counters and interactive information facilities were also reviewed.
The readiness of front-line staff was assessed, including their ability to provide information and assist passengers with varied needs, such as people with disabilities and foreign tourists. This was part of the focus on ensuring passengers can obtain information and access facilities while using Jabodebek LRT.
Radhitya Mardika, Jabodebek LRT’s public relations manager, said assessments of safety and service facilities were necessary to determine whether operations complied with applicable standards.
“Safety is a priority in public transport operations. That is why inspections cover safety facilities as well as supporting facilities that help passengers access services easily,” Radhitya said.
During the inspection, Jabodebek LRT staff immediately followed up on several minor findings. The action was taken in response to the inspection results and to ensure service facilities were ready.
“For passengers, service quality is not only about the train journey, but also about being able to access facilities, obtain information and receive assistance from staff when needed. Facilities and services must therefore remain under review so they can meet the needs of diverse passengers,” he added.
Jabodebek LRT supports the monitoring and evaluation as part of efforts to maintain compliance with service standards, with due regard to safety, accessibility and passengers’ needs.
