IWIP Strengthens Low-Carbon Industrial Estate Transformation to Support Decarbonisation
PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) continues to strengthen its transformation towards a low-carbon industrial estate, in order to support the national decarbonisation agenda and the achievement of the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target for the industrial sector by 2050.
This commitment is realised through IWIP’s participation in the Net Zero Industrial Precincts (NZIP) Programme, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Industry in collaboration with the Climateworks Centre to encourage the development of low-carbon industrial estates in Indonesia.
The Director of Industrial Regions at the Ministry of Industry, Dr Winardi, stated that the recent progress of the NZIP programme was discussed during the Workshop on the Development of the Net Zero Industrial Precincts (NZIP) Programme Phase 2, and the 2026 Follow-up Plan, held in Jakarta on Tuesday, 1 July 2026.
“This activity serves as a forum bringing together the government, industrial estate managers, industrial players, and various stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in accelerating the transformation of industrial estates towards low-carbon operations,” Winardi said in a statement on Friday, 3 July 2026.
He noted that the transformation of industrial estates is a strategic step towards achieving the national industrial sector’s decarbonisation targets. According to him, industrial estates no longer function merely as production centres, but also as ecosystems that promote resource efficiency, shared infrastructure development, the use of low-carbon energy, and integrated environmental management.
“Through this approach, estate managers, tenants, the government, and various stakeholders can work together to identify opportunities for emission reductions through increased energy efficiency, the use of low-carbon energy, the construction of shared infrastructure, and the strengthening of demand for low-emission industrial products,” Winardi added.
The NZIP programme is implemented in several phases. Phase 1 (2024–2025) resulted in the mapping of potential industrial estates and an analytical framework as a basis for developing low-carbon industrial areas.
Meanwhile, Phase 2 (2025–2028) focuses on drafting decarbonisation transition pathways, socio-economic studies, market analysis, and the development of investment opportunities.
“IWIP is one of the industrial estates participating in the implementation of NZIP Phase 2,” he said.
Furthermore, the Deputy General Manager of Sustainable Development at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), Deky Tetradiono, stated that the implementation of the NZIP Programme serves as a momentum for IWIP to strengthen the development of low-carbon industrial estates in a more integrated manner.
