IWIP Strengthens Low-Carbon Industrial Estate Transformation to Support Decarbonisation

PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) is continuing to strengthen its transformation towards a low-carbon industrial estate to support the national decarbonisation agenda and the achievement of the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target for the industrial sector by 2050. This commitment is realised through IWIP’s participation in the Net Zero Industrial Precincts (NZIP) Programme, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Industry together with the Climateworks Centre to promote the development of low-carbon industrial estates in Indonesia. The Director of Industrial Zoning at the Ministry of Industry, Dr. Winardi, stated that the progress of the NZIP programme implementation was recently discussed at a workshop on the development of Phase 2 of the programme and the follow-up plan for 2026, held in Jakarta on Tuesday, 1 July 2026. “This activity serves as a forum bringing together the government, industrial estate managers, industry players, and various stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in accelerating the transformation of industrial estates towards low carbon,” Winardi said in a statement on Friday, 3 July 2026. He conveyed that the transformation of industrial estates is one of the strategic steps to achieve the national industrial sector’s decarbonisation target. According to him, industrial estates no longer merely function as production centres but also as ecosystems that promote resource efficiency, shared infrastructure development, low-carbon energy utilisation, and integrated environmental management. “Through this approach, estate managers, tenants, the government, and various stakeholders can jointly identify emission reduction opportunities through improved energy efficiency, low-carbon energy utilisation, shared infrastructure construction, and strengthening demand for low-emission industrial products,” Winardi said. The NZIP programme is implemented in several phases. Phase 1 (2024–2025) produced a mapping of potential industrial estates and an analytical framework as the basis for developing low-carbon industrial estates. Meanwhile, Phase 2 (2025–2028) focuses on developing decarbonisation transition pathways, socio-economic studies, market analysis, and investment opportunity development. “IWIP is one of the industrial estates participating in the implementation of NZIP Phase 2,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Deputy General Manager of Sustainable Development at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), Deky Tetradiono, said that the implementation of the NZIP Programme is a momentum for IWIP to strengthen the development of a more integrated low-carbon industrial estate.
