IWIP Involves 160 MSMEs in North Maluku Industrial Supply Chain
The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM facilitated a partnership for 160 MSME players in Ternate, North Maluku, on Tuesday (1/9/2026), to enter the supply chain of PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) and several of its tenants.
As reported by Money, IWIP’s realised expenditure towards local MSMEs reached a value of Rp 1.1 trillion in the second quarter of 2026, with 77.6 per cent of this portion concentrated within the North Maluku region.
The integration of local businesses into industrial operations includes the provision of food supplies, workwear, logistics, transportation, and daily operational requirements for the industrial estate.
Yudhi Santoso, General Manager of External Relations at IWIP, explained that opportunities for cooperation are wide open for regional entrepreneurs capable of meeting industrial operational standards.
“IWIP wants more local MSMEs to be ready to enter and sustain themselves within the industrial supply chain. We are opening channels for communication and cooperation, while simultaneously encouraging business actors to strengthen their legality, quality consistency, competitive pricing, punctuality, and service. These aspects are the foundation for partnerships to grow in the long term,” said Yudhi Santoso.
These partnership opportunities were facilitated through two business matching sessions, which detailed the requirements for goods and services procurement through Scope of Work and Bill of Quantities documents.
“Through targeted partnerships, MSMEs not only gain market access but also the opportunity to improve their standards, scale, and competitiveness. This meeting needs to progress into purchase orders and cooperation agreements so that local entrepreneurs can grow alongside existing investments,” said Noor Sona Maesana Mushonnif, Special Staff to the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM for Downstreaming Acceleration and National Entrepreneurship Enhancement.
Support for the sustainability of regional investment was also emphasised by the regional government to expand employment absorption and local potential.
“The government needs partners to collaborate in meeting regional needs and creating better economic growth. We want the investments developing in North Maluku to also open more opportunities for local entrepreneurs. We are also proud that the presence of IWIP has brought change to Central Halmahera,” said Sarbin Sehe, Vice Governor of North Maluku.
The regional government, along with relevant ministries and the banking sector, is now encouraging access to financing to strengthen the capacity and legality of MSMEs that have met the industrial procurement requirements.
