The commemoration of Pancasila’s Birth Anniversary on 1 June serves as an opportunity to strengthen national commitment and embody Pancasila’s values in the daily lives of the people. Amid various modern challenges—including social inequality, digital transformation, and the need to enhance human resource quality—Pancasila must serve as the foundation for formulating policies that prioritise the people’s welfare.

This was stated by PSI member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD Jabar), Iwan Koswara, who stressed that Pancasila is not merely a slogan or rote memorisation, but a guiding principle that must be realised through improved public services, equitable development, and social justice for all citizens.

He added that Pancasila’s spirit aligns with efforts to build a progressive Indonesia through clean, transparent governance focused on citizens’ interests. Therefore, Pancasila’s values must be translated into concrete actions that address grassroots community needs.

“Pancasila teaches that development must be human-centric. National progress cannot be measured solely by economic growth, but also by the extent to which society experiences justice, gains access to quality education, adequate healthcare, and equal opportunities for advancement,” Iwan said on Monday, 1 June 2026.

He noted that the younger generation plays a strategic role in maintaining Pancasila’s relevance in the modern era. Young people must be drivers of change, bringing innovation, creativity, and solutions to social issues without abandoning the values of tolerance, unity, and mutual cooperation.

Amid the flood of digital information, Iwan also highlighted the importance of fostering a responsible critical culture. Freedom of expression must be accompanied by respect for differences and a commitment to preserving national unity.

“Pancasila provides space for scientific advancement, innovation, and freedom of thought. However, all must be directed towards strengthening national brotherhood and improving people’s quality of life,” he said.

Iwan called on all segments of society to use Pancasila’s Birth Anniversary as a moment to strengthen optimism and collective effort in building Indonesia. For him, Pancasila’s spirit remains alive when it is manifested through prioritising the people, respecting diversity, and actively delivering social justice.

“Pancasila’s benefits must be felt in daily life. When the state provides good services, equal opportunities, and protects all citizens, that is when Pancasila’s values truly come alive and work for the people,” he said.
