Iwan Koswara Hopes UNISA Bandung Strengthens Contribution to West Java Education
West Java DPRD Commission V member and former Secretary of the West Java Regional Leadership of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM), Iwan Koswara, has expressed his hopes for Universitas ’Aisyiyah (UNISA) Bandung as it enters its 27th year.
According to Iwan, the age of 27 is an important phase for UNISA Bandung to continue strengthening its contribution in producing excellent, character-driven human resources (HR) with a concern for social issues in society.
“At the age of 27, I hope UNISA Bandung continues to progress and make a real contribution to the world of education, particularly in West Java,” said Iwan in a statement on Monday (31/8/2026).
He assessed that Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah higher education institutions have a strategic role in building a young generation that not only possesses academic competence but also upholds moral values, humanity, and service to society.
Iwan hopes UNISA Bandung can continue to adapt to the times, including facing the challenges of digital transformation and the changing needs of the world of work.
According to him, higher education institutions need to ensure graduates have skills relevant to technological developments while maintaining strong character.
“Higher education institutions should not only produce graduates who are academically intelligent, but must also be able to produce a generation with integrity, social awareness, and a spirit to benefit society,” he said.
As a member of West Java DPRD Commission V, which oversees the education sector among others, Iwan emphasised the importance of synergy between government, higher education institutions, community organisations, and elements of society in improving the quality of education in West Java.
He also encouraged UNISA Bandung to further expand collaboration, both in education, research, and community service. Through such collaboration, the campus’s presence is expected to be felt not only by the academic community but also to have a direct impact on society.
“May UNISA Bandung become increasingly qualified, increasingly trusted by the public, and continue to produce a progressive generation capable of answering future challenges,” said Iwan.
Iwan also conveyed his congratulations on the 27th Anniversary of UNISA Bandung. He hopes the long journey that has been undertaken will serve as capital to continue improving quality and strengthening UNISA Bandung’s role as part of educational progress in West Java.
