During a government oversight activity in Mustikasari, Bekasi, on Monday (8/6/2026), West Java Provincial Legislative Member Iwan Koswara met with community leaders, healthcare workers, and local residents to address several pressing local issues. The dialogue revealed three primary concerns requiring urgent attention from the local government: infrastructure, education, and basic healthcare services.

Firstly, residents raised concerns regarding persistent flooding, noting that several areas still experience significant waterlogging during periods of heavy rain. The community is calling for a comprehensive evaluation of the existing drainage systems and the normalisation of water channels.

Secondly, issues within the education sector were highlighted, specifically regarding the cost of graduation ceremonies for Kindergarten students, which has reached approximately Rp 400,000 per pupil. This expense is considered a significant burden for many parents amidst challenging economic conditions.

Thirdly, the condition of Posyandu (integrated healthcare centre) facilities was identified as inadequate. Residents requested improvements to the infrastructure to ensure that maternal and child health services can be delivered more effectively and comfortably.

In response, Iwan Koswara emphasised that all community aspirations would be brought forward for policy discussion with the relevant authorities. “The issues regarding flooding and Posyandu facilities will be pushed for immediate follow-up through coordination with the relevant departments. Meanwhile, the school graduation costs will be monitored to ensure they do not become an undue burden on parents,” he stated.

He added that oversight and aspiration-gathering activities are vital to ensuring that local government policies effectively address the actual needs of the community. Through this forum, it is hoped that synergy between the West Java Provincial Government and the Bekasi City Government will strengthen, particularly regarding infrastructure management and the improvement of public services at the sub-district level.
