Ivan Gunawan designs Indonesian contingent's parade uniform for Asian Para Games
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Designer Ivan Gunawan has been selected as the designer of the Indonesian contingent’s uniform for the parade at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on 18 October.
Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia Senny Marbun explained that Ivan’s selection came through a selection process initiated by the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2026 Asian Para Games, Reda Manthovani.
“This was the CdM’s idea, that making the uniform cannot be done carelessly, so hopefully Ivan Gunawan can present a design that meets our shared expectations,” said Senny in Jakarta on Monday.
He assessed that Ivan has extensive experience in the fashion world and can therefore deliver classy attire for the event at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya, Japan.
Senny stated that work on the parade uniform has been underway since last week. Ivan and his team travelled directly to Solo to meet the athletes and officials for body measurements.
NPC Indonesia and the Indonesian contingent’s CdM team have also made specific preparations. A special team has already departed for Japan to conduct checks and coordination.
Senny confirmed that the Indonesian contingent will depart for Japan on a chartered aircraft provided by the Government of Indonesia.
He praised President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir for always paying attention to the needs of athletes with disabilities.
The 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi and Nagoya will be held from 18 October to 24 October and will be attended by 45 countries competing for hundreds of gold medals across 18 sports.
