IUQI Bogor Sends Students on Community Service Programme to Thailand and Saudi Arabia
BOGOR — The Rector of the Institut Ummul Quro Al-Islami (IUQI) Bogor, Dr. KH. Syamsul Rizal, officially farewelled 422 students participating in the IUQI Student Community Service Programme (KKM) for the 2025/2026 academic year on Monday (27/7/2026). A total of 31 KKM groups will carry out their service in various regions, consisting of 29 national groups and 2 international groups, in Thailand and Saudi Arabia respectively.
This year’s KKM programme carries the theme “Realising Empowered Villages through Food Security and Strengthening the Values of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah.” Through this theme, students are expected to deliver programmes relevant to community needs whilst reinforcing Islamic values in social life.
The send-off ceremony began with a report from the Head of the KKM Organising Committee, Dr. Ahmad Idhofi, M.Pd., who expressed appreciation to the institute’s leadership, the organising committee, field supervising lecturers (DPL), and all students who had taken part in the preparatory briefing prior to deployment to their service locations.
In his report, Dr. Ahmad Idhofi, M.Pd. emphasised that the KKM is not merely a fulfilment of academic obligations, but a form of collective service carried out under the spirit of “Moving Together, Simultaneously, with Impact.” According to him, the success of the KKM is measured not only by the implementation of work programmes, but also by students’ ability to maintain good manners, morality, and to implement the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) within the community.
Meanwhile, the Rector of IUQI Bogor, Dr. KH. Syamsul Rizal MZ., S.H.I., M.Pd.I., in his address stated that the KKM is an implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education, particularly the aspect of community service combined with research. He expressed hope that students would become agents of change delivering tangible benefits to society.
The Rector also conveyed four key messages to all KKM participants. First, be active, by taking the initiative to provide education to the community, from the field of education and economic empowerment to health issues such as stunting prevention. Second, be collaborative, by building synergy with village governments, regional officials, and all elements of society. Third, be substantive, by carrying out work programmes that deliver real impact. Fourth, be innovative, through creative programmes that can become a positive legacy at the service locations.
Furthermore, the Rector reminded all participants to always remain humble, uphold ethics, safeguard the good name of their alma mater, the Institut Ummul Quro Al-Islami Bogor, and to complete their service responsibly until their return to campus.
