ITS-AAL to Explore Collaboration in Developing a Drone Warfare Study Centre
Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya and the Naval Academy (AAL) are exploring strategic collaboration in developing a Drone Warfare Study Centre to strengthen national technological independence in defence through collaborative research and human resource development.
“Moreover, ITS has many lecturers and experts involved in the drone field,” said ITS Rector Prof Bambang Pramujati when receiving a delegation from AAL in the ITS Rector’s Room, ITS Rectorate Building, Thursday.
Bambang added that ITS has the competence and supporting facilities to realise this collaboration.
“We have many research teams to support the development of technology, such as robotics, automotive, and so on,” said the Professor of Mechanical Engineering at ITS.
“Other sectors, such as agriculture, also need drones,” he added.
According to Iwa, ITS was chosen as a partner because it is considered to have strengths in the field of technology and is geographically close to AAL, making coordination easier.
This exploration of collaboration is expected to be the initial step in forming an integrated drone warfare study centre.
In addition to the formal meeting, Iwa also gave a guest lecture to students of the Department of Information Technology at ITS in the Auditorium of Tower 2 ITS on the formation of character for future leaders, as part of strengthening collaboration in human resource development.
The collaboration between ITS and AAL is also in line with support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially point 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, point 17 on Partnerships for the Goals, and point 4 on Quality Education.
