When is Eid al-Fitr 2026?
Based on the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform No. 1497 of 2025 (and No. 1497 of 2025, No. 2 of 2025, and No. 5 of 2025) concerning National Holidays and Combined Leave 2026, Eid al-Fitr 2026 is expected to fall on 21 March 2026.
Nevertheless, the government will hold an isbat session to officially determine the date of Eid al-Fitr 2026 or 1 Shawwal 1447 H. The isbat session will be organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) RI.
Quoting from the Kemenag website, the schedule for the isbat session determining 1 Shawwal 1447 H is as follows:
Day, date: Thursday, 19 March 2026
Time: Starting at 16:00 WIB
Location: H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Jakarta
Unlike the government, Muhammadiyah has already set the date for Eid al-Fitr 2026. According to the Muhammadiyah Circular and the Global Hijri Calendar (KHGT) 1447 H, Muhammadiyah sets 1 Shawwal 1447 H (Eid al-Fitr) falling on Friday, 20 March 2026.
This Eid al-Fitr dating applies to all of Indonesia because Muhammadiyah’s calculation uses universal astronomical data.
