Itera Announces Five Rector Candidates from Screening Process
Bandarlampung (ANTARA) - Institut Teknologi Sumatera (Itera) has announced five prospective rectors for the 2026-2030 period resulting from the screening of 13 registered candidates.
“We have examined the documents of all candidates. After conducting the examination and a senate meeting, we have determined five prospective candidates who passed the administrative selection,” said Abdul Rajak, Chairman of the Itera Rector Election Committee, in Lampung Province on Monday.
He stated that the five prospective rectors are Prof. Dr. Aswan from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Prof. Dr. Elfahmi from ITB, Prof. Dr. Faiz Syuaib from Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Prof. Dr. Fahmi from Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Prof. Ismunandar, Ph.D. from ITB.
“The next stage on 13 April will involve inviting these five prospective candidates online to present their visions and missions to the Itera academic community while introducing themselves,” he said.
Then, he continued, on 20 April, the five prospective candidates will be invited directly to Itera to conduct outreach and present their visions and missions openly in front of the academic community.
“After that, on 21 April, we will hold a closed senate meeting for the selection of prospective candidates to become three rector candidates, who will subsequently be selected and determined together with the Minister in May,” he said.
He explained that the three selected rector candidates will be determined by direct voting by the 17 Itera senates, where each senate has three voting rights.
“For the proportion, the senate votes account for 65 percent and the ministry’s votes 35 percent, after which one person from the three candidates will be appointed as Itera Rector by the ministry,” he said.
