ITDC strengthens safety systems in Mandalika area
Lombok Tengah (ANTARA) - InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is strengthening the readiness of The Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) by enhancing security, safety, and immigration systems ahead of the MotoGP Indonesia, scheduled for 9-11 October 2026.
“This step is part of our efforts to ensure The Mandalika is increasingly prepared to handle the rise in activities from tourists, business actors, and event organisers, as the area develops into a sportstainment destination,” said the General Manager of The Mandalika, Pari Wijaya, in Central Lombok on Friday.
He stated that the enhancement of security and safety is being conducted through collaboration with the Central Lombok Regency Fire and Rescue Service.
Furthermore, the company is strengthening operational support for the Fire and Rescue Post located in the West Zone of the Mandalika SEZ as part of the area’s preparedness system for potential emergency situations.
Security and safety readiness is a vital foundation in destination management to ensure comfort as the intensity of tourism activities and events increases.
“As an area develops into an international-standard sportstainment destination, destination readiness is not only about meeting location and infrastructure standards, but also about how we ensure that security, safety, and public services function effectively,” he added.
ITDC is also enhancing service convenience for tourists and international stakeholders through cooperation with the Mataram Class I TPI Immigration Office by providing immigration service space within The Mandalika area, located in the central parking area of the Mandalika Bazaar.
Immigration services are scheduled to take place at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, covering needs such as residence permits, changes in immigration status, visitor visa extensions, Exit Permit Only (EPO), registration proofs (TSP), changes in data or activities, as well as immigration information and consultation services.
“The presence of these services ensures that immigration administrative needs are more accessible to international tourists, business actors, foreign workers, and international stakeholders conducting activities in The Mandalika,” he said.
Regarding security, the company is also collaborating with the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) to strengthen operational security assistance for The Mandalika.
“These three enhancements demonstrate that destination management is not only oriented towards increasing attractiveness and economic activity, but also towards creating an ecosystem that provides a sense of safety, comfort, and administrative services for all users of the area,” he concluded.
