ITDC Provides Recovery Support for Children Affected by Flooding in Mandalika
Lombok Tengah — InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has intensified post-natural disaster response by implementing a recovery programme for children affected by flooding in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB).
“As part of community recovery efforts, ITDC has distributed 70 food aid packages to residents affected in the Mandalika SEZ,” said ITDC Operations Director Troy Warokka in Lombok Tengah on Sunday.
He stated that disaster response focuses not only on physical aspects but also on the social and psychological recovery of the community. “We provide this support as part of ITDC’s commitment to ensure that communities in the zone are able to recover and resume normal activities,” he said.
In recognition of the needs of affected residents, particularly children, ITDC has organised trauma healing activities following the flooding at the Mandalika Child Learning Center (MCLC) in collaboration with the Gugah Nurani Indonesia Foundation (GNI). “We have also distributed 58 school supply packages to affected children to support the recovery of learning activities. Pullman Lombok Mandalika has also provided refreshments for breaking the fast for activity participants,” he said.
The hydrometeorological event caused by weather dynamics, climate patterns, and high-intensity rainfall on 23-25 February 2026 resulted in flooding in 10 hamlets of Kuta Village and 9 locations within the Mandalika SEZ.
Since the occurrence of the flooding, ITDC has coordinated with Kuta Village Government and the River Basin Agency (Balai Wilayah Sungai) to implement rapid response measures, including closing road access at certain points and accelerating normalisation of the zone. The ITDC team, together with the River Basin Agency, has also conducted further inspections at the West Ground Water Tank (GWT) location, followed by sediment dredging using heavy equipment.
“ITDC, together with all stakeholders, will continue to monitor post-flood conditions and gradually restore the zone. Infrastructure normalisation efforts, social support for communities, and strengthening of disaster mitigation will be carried out continuously until residents’ activities and the zone fully recover,” he said.
