ITDC Optimistic as Enthusiasm Rises That Rp5 Trillion Target Will Be Met
PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) is optimistic that the Indonesian round of the 2026 MotoGP will achieve its target of Rp5 trillion in economic impact. Its confidence has been bolstered by a surge in spectator enthusiasm on the second day of the event, seen as a strong indicator of economic activity across sectors directly involved in the international event.
ITDC Operations Director Troy Reza Warokka said on Saturday, 10 October, that the increase in spectators at the Mandalika circuit indicated stronger activity across tourism-sector transactions. He said the target was informed by the economic impact of previous MotoGP events, which reached Rp4.9 trillion last year.
“Progress includes investment, hotel transactions, restaurant transactions and all sorts of other things. If we are asked whether it will be achieved, God willing, it will. Last year we reached Rp4.9 trillion, so the increase required is not large. With some good promotional attractions, local heroes, Marquez becoming champion and the artists, that will come in,” Warokka said.
In light of the excitement at the circuit, Warokka also projected that attendance would peak on the event’s third day and could exceed the target of 145,000 visitors.
