ITDC and NTB Police Finalise Preparations for Larger-Scale 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia
In preparation for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), and its subsidiary Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) are strengthening coordination with the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB). The coordination aims to ensure the world-class racing event is held safely and delivers an increasingly significant economic impact for West Nusa Tenggara and Indonesia. The event is targeted to attract more than 145,000 spectators.
The synergy was realised through an audience led by ITDC Operations Director and Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Troy Warokka, and received directly by NTB Police Chief Inspector General Kalingga Rendra Raharja and his staff at the NTB Police Headquarters on Wednesday (5/8/2026). This meeting forms part of the preparation series for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, scheduled for 9–11 October 2026 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in The Mandalika.
During the audience, ITDC presented various aspects of event readiness, ranging from area management, visitor access and mobility arrangements, cross-functional operational preparedness, to various area activations designed to enrich the visitor experience during the event.
The strengthened coordination comes as the scale of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia grows year on year. In the previous edition, the event successfully attracted 140,324 spectators, a 15.7 per cent increase from the year before, and generated an estimated national economic multiplier effect of Rp 4.96 trillion.
Furthermore, the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia has made a tangible contribution to strengthening the regional economy. Up to 2025, the event had spurred new investment worth Rp 713 billion in The Mandalika area. The 2025 MotoGP event alone absorbed more than 3,000 local workers from NTB, with approximately 67 per cent originating from Central Lombok Regency, and involved 202 culinary and craft MSMEs and more than 600 MSMEs active around the circuit area and Kuta Mandalika.
Positive impacts are also evident in the tourism sector. During the previous event, hotel occupancy rates reached 100 per cent in The Mandalika area and averaged 90 per cent in Mataram City, accompanied by the addition of 44 extra flights to West Nusa Tenggara to accommodate high tourist mobility.
Given the growing scale of the event and its resulting impact, the security aspect has become one of the main factors determining the event’s success. On that occasion, Polda NTB presented the evaluation results from the 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia as a basis for refining the 2026 security strategy, encompassing strengthened cross-agency coordination, optimisation of area security, visitor flow management, traffic engineering, and enhanced operational alertness.
NTB Police Chief Inspector General Kalingga Rendra Raharja affirmed Polda NTB’s commitment to supporting the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia through a professional, integrated, and adaptive security approach based on previous experience. He stated that the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is an international agenda with strategic impact on tourism, the economy, and the image of West Nusa Tenggara.
‘Evaluations from the previous event provide important lessons for us to continue refining the security approach so that all activities can proceed more safely, orderly, and smoothly, while providing a sense of security for the community, tourists, riders, teams, and all parties involved,’ said the NTB Police Chief.
ITDC Operations Director and Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Troy Warokka, expressed appreciation for Polda NTB’s commitment as a strategic partner in every international event held at The Mandalika. He said the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is not merely an international sporting event, but has become a driving force for regional and national tourism and the economy.

He added that all evaluations from the previous event serve as an important foundation for delivering an increasingly high-quality event. ‘We are targeting not only an increase in spectator numbers, but also an improvement in the quality of the visitor experience. We continue to refine all operational aspects, from area management and visitor mobility to cross-agency coordination, so that the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia can be held to the best standards while delivering a greater economic impact for the community and strengthening The Mandalika’s position as a world-class sport tourism destination,’ said Troy.
