The Institute of Technology and Business (ITB) STIKOM Bali has officially launched the Digital Krama Adat Platform, a web-based innovation designed to enhance transparency in customary levies whilst strengthening digital literacy among communities, on Sunday (8 March). The launch took place in Duku Pulu Kaja Village, Tabanan.

To date, customary levy recording has been conducted manually using written ledgers. This traditional method frequently results in recording errors and potentially breeds distrust amongst residents.

Through the digital system, village administrators can now record payments in real-time, compile automated reports, and send digital notifications to residents. Residents can also independently monitor their obligations through an easily accessible portal, thereby establishing order and transparency.

This community service programme is led by Indriyani, together with an interdisciplinary team of lecturers and students. Beyond introducing the platform, the team has also conducted digital literacy training based on a Learning Management System (LMS). This training aims to familiarise communities with technology whilst preserving deeply rooted customary values. Thus, digital innovation remains aligned with local wisdom.

The activity also supports the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy, as students are directly engaged in the field. They not only learn theory but also contribute meaningfully to community empowerment.

The Bendesa Adat (traditional village leader) of Duku Pulu Kaja Village, I Wayan Subrata, welcomed the platform’s introduction. He emphasised that the digital system will bring positive change to customary governance. “Previously, residents often questioned whether their levies were correctly recorded. With this digital system, everything can be checked transparently. We hope trust amongst residents strengthens and there are no more doubts,” he said.

Furthermore, I Wayan Subrata added that this innovation is not merely about technology but also about maintaining social harmony. “Technology must be a tool to strengthen togetherness. We remain committed to customary values, but now in a more modern and orderly manner,” he stated.

By integrating technology, education, and customary law, ITB STIKOM Bali hopes this programme becomes a model for sustainable community service that can be replicated in other customary villages across Bali.
