Bandung (ANTARA) — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) have formalised a strategic partnership combining technological research, industrial investment and education to accelerate national development.

“The partnership is specifically designed to bridge academic expertise and university laboratory facilities with BPI Danantara’s investment-financing ecosystem, converting university research into high-value applied technology solutions on an industrial scale,” ITB Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara said in a statement issued by the university in Bandung on Wednesday.

The agreement was marked by the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (DTIIF) 2026, held at a hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday (27 October).

The first MoU, covering technology development and downstreaming, was signed by Tatacipta and Danantara Indonesia Chief Technology Officer Sigit Puji Santosa.

The second, covering education, research and community service, was signed by ITB Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Lavi Rizki Zuhal and BPI Danantara Managing Director for Strategic Technology Initiatives Ricardo Irwan Rei.

The national priority sectors targeted include energy, minerals and strategic metals, with a focus on increasing the added value of natural resources and processing mined products.

Other areas are artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, including development of the digital ecosystem and applied AI systems; semiconductors and advanced materials, to strengthen domestic supply chains for electronic components and high-grade materials; and technology-based manufacturing and transport. The fourth area covers modernising production lines, bioindustry, transport modes and healthcare.

The partnership at DTIIF 2026 brought together government officials, state-owned enterprises, global investors, industry, universities and research institutions in a national collaboration ecosystem.

“This step reaffirms the commitment of the government and higher education institutions to supporting Indonesia’s technological sovereignty, while encouraging university research to deliver direct benefits for economic growth and national self-reliance,” Tatacipta said.

ITB researchers Husna Nugrahapraja, Rindia Maharani Putri, Fenny Martha Dwivany, Gabriella Alodia, Yazdi Ibrahim Jenie and Intan Taufik also attended the signing to help oversee the practical implementation and research substance of the partnership.
