Italian Woman Harassed at Lakey Beach Dompu, Suspect Arrested

An Italian national was the victim of harassment by a drunk man while holidaying at Lakey Beach, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Monday (24/8/2026). The suspected perpetrator has been arrested by the police.

“That’s right, the perpetrator has been successfully arrested,” said Hu’u Police Chief, First Inspector Ade Helmi, when confirmed by detikBali on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, is a young woman aged 25. Helmi revealed that the victim received indecent treatment from the perpetrator, AI, a resident of Monggo Village, Madapangga District, Bima. At the time, the perpetrator suddenly approached the victim who was on the beach.

Once close to the victim, AI grabbed the victim’s sensitive area and then left. The perpetrator’s lewd act was witnessed by the victim’s companion, a fellow foreign national, who then chased the perpetrator together with local residents. The perpetrator was dragged to the beach and apologised for his actions.

“The suspected perpetrator is believed to have committed an indecent act by touching the victim’s body and making contact with other parts of her body,” Helmi explained.

The victim, who received such treatment, then reported the incident to Hu’u Police Station together with her companion, a Czech national. In her report, the victim explained the chronology of the incident and the characteristics of the perpetrator.

Helmi continued that his team immediately moved to the scene. At around 3.30 pm Central Indonesia Time, the perpetrator was arrested while playing on the beach.

“Officers found the suspected perpetrator on the beach and he was swimming, and he was eventually arrested,” he said.

After being arrested, the perpetrator was taken to Hu’u Police Station for questioning. He was then taken directly to Dompu Police Headquarters for further processing.
