Italian visitor found dead in Bali

JAKARTA: An Italian woman was found dead in suspicious
circumstances on the tourist island of Bali, police said on
Friday.

The body of the woman, identified as Raffaella Becagli, 31,
was discovered on Thursday in bushes near a river in the island's
Kuta Utara region, police Capt. Nyoman Siasa said.

There was a bruise on the victim's head and she had bled from
her mouth, but there was no indication of rape or robbery, Nyoman
said. Becagli's handbag and a motorbike she had used were found
near her body.

Nyoman said an autopsy at the Sanglah Hospital in Bali's
capital, Denpasar, concluded that the victim had been struck by a
blunt object.

Becagli, a businesswoman from Florence, was reported to have
often visited Bali for work-related reasons.
