The arrogant actions of an Italian national with initials GI (24), who resisted police in Denpasar, resulted in his deportation from Bali. The Class I Special Immigration Office at Ngurah Rai International Airport deported GI on Tuesday (28/4/2026) through Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, stated that this deportation is the result of synergy between immigration and police. “This deportation is a tangible manifestation that we do not tolerate any legal violations, no matter how small, by foreign nationals in our sovereign territory,” he said on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

The Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, emphasised that all foreign nationals proven to disrupt public order and fail to respect Indonesian law will face similar sanctions.

“Bali is a world tourism destination, but that does not mean foreign nationals can act outside the rules. There is no compromise for such violations,” said Sengky.

Previously, the Denpasar Police Chief, Commissioner Pol. Leonardo David Simatupang, stated that this step is expected to serve as a deterrent for other foreign nationals to always respect the laws and norms applicable while in Indonesia.

The incident began on Wednesday (22/4/2026) around 1:00 PM WITA on Jalan Gunung Agung, Pemecutan Kaja, North Denpasar. GI was stopped by members of the Denpasar Police Traffic Unit, Aiptu Yulius, for riding motorbike DK 4578 AEQ with his girlfriend without wearing helmets.

During the enforcement, GI refused to accept the ticket, shouted at the officer, and pushed Aiptu Yulius with one hand until he fell. The entire incident was recorded by local residents and spread widely on TikTok and Instagram the following day.

In response to the viral video, the Denpasar Police mobilised a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Intelligence and Security Unit to secure GI. He was arrested on Wednesday (23/4/2026) around 11:00 AM WITA in the Simpang Empat area of Jalan Gunung Agung-Jalan Mahendradatta, Denpasar. That evening at 7:40 PM WITA, GI was officially handed over to the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office for immigration examination.

GI was sent off using Qatar Airways flight QR963 to Doha after being proven to have resisted the Denpasar Police Traffic Unit officers.

Based on crossing data, GI was recorded entering Indonesia on 8 April 2026 through Ngurah Rai Airport with a Visitor Visa, with a Visitor Stay Permit (ITK) valid until 7 June 2026. From the examination results, GI admitted all the facts of the incident and was declared to have violated Article 75 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.

For that violation, the Ngurah Rai Immigration imposed an Immigration Administrative Action (TAK) in the form of deportation and proposed his name for inclusion on the blacklist.
