Italian National Arrested After Outburst During Traffic Fine in Bali, Recommended for Deportation

An Italian national with the initials GI, who went berserk when being fined in Denpasar, Bali, has been arrested by police. The Denpasar City Police Resort (Polresta) is now recommending that Immigration carry out the deportation of the foreign man.

Denpasar Police Chief, Kombes Leonardo David Simatupang, said that GI has been handed over to Immigration for legal processing. Leonardo hopes this step will serve as a deterrent, particularly for foreign nationals (WNA), to always comply with the law and respect norms in Indonesia.

Leonardo emphasised that this firm action is part of Polresta Denpasar’s commitment to maintaining community security and order, especially in Bali as an international tourist destination.

“We will not tolerate any actions that could disrupt public order. This is a form of our seriousness together with related agencies in keeping the situation safe and conducive,” Leonardo stressed in his statement on Friday (24/4/2026).

Leonardo also urged the entire community, including foreign tourists, to jointly maintain order for the creation of a safe and comfortable situation in Bali, particularly in the Denpasar area.

Leonardo recounted that the Italian tourist went berserk at the Simpang Empat intersection of Jalan Gunung Agung-Jalan Mahendradata, Denpasar, on Wednesday (22/4/2026) around 13:00 WITA. He went berserk when he was about to be fined.

GI is known to have committed a traffic violation. When stopped by officers, GI instead showed a non-cooperative attitude, resisted, and did not respect the on-duty members.

Leonardo revealed that Polresta Denpasar immediately moved to follow up on the incident. The handling was carried out jointly by a combined team from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) and the Intelligence and Security Unit (Satintelkam) of Polresta Denpasar. The police also coordinated with the Ngurah Rai Special Class I TPI Immigration Office.

“As soon as we received the viral information, the team immediately moved to secure the individual and conduct further examination,” Leonardo said.
