JAKARTA: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and
the Italian government officially handed over the operations of
10 Satellite Health Clinics to the Indonesian government
recently, an IOM official said in Jakarta.
The clinics, which are located in nine subdistricts in the
Bireuen regency, were funded by the Italian government through
Cooperazione Italiana and officially given to the Ministry of
Health and the Bireuen regency health office, IOM information
officer Katsui Kaya said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post
recently.
"I consider this a milestone in the reconstruction process in
Aceh, to which Italy pays the utmost importance," Italian
Ambassador to Indonesia Francesco M. Greco said. "We are
particularly happy that the operational branches of the Ministry
of Health will be able to target the needs in health services for
over 15,000 displaced people living in the camps".
"We recognize the important roles which donors and
international partners play in supporting the recovery process of
tsunami-affected Aceh," Ministry of Health's director general of
public health Sri Astuti said -- JP
