Italian entrepreneurs to visit

JAKARTA (JP): The Italian Association of Manufacturers of
Machinery, Installations, Furnaces and Products for Founderies
(Amafond) under the coordination of the Italian Trade Commission
here is scheduled to visit Indonesia on March 17 and 18.

The Italian Trade Commission issued here on Friday said that
the first visit of Amafond delegation to Indonesia is mainly
aimed at exploring possible cooperation and business
opportunities with their Indonesian partners engaged in steel,
automotive and other heavy industries, Antara reported.

The delegation will consist of eight representatives of
Italian companies engaged in producing die casting, automatic
gravity die casting, foundry automation, material handling,
molding system, furnaces, gas welding and cutting equipment for
iron and steel making and foundry and plastic.

It further said that the sending of the delegation is based on
the fact that Indonesia's demand of foundry products has been
steadily increasing from year to year, which in 1994 was valued
at more than US$1.14 billion and the figure rose again to more
than $1.5 billion the following year.

According to the Trade Commission, the increasing demand of
the foundry products is inseparable from the current blooming of
automotive industry in Indonesia.

While here, members of the delegation are scheduled to have
meetings with executives of the Indonesian Association of Metal
and Machinery Manufacturers (GAMA) and the Indonesian Association
of Car Component Producers (GIAMM).

In addition the delegation will also has a series of meetings
with government officials and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (Kadin)
