Italian businesses in Indonesia
Italian businesses in Indonesia
We, Italian businesspeople of the Italian Business Association
in Indonesia (IBAI), believe in Indonesia, its natural riches and
potential. But most of all, we believe in its people, because
with them, we work daily in firms and in the marketplace.
We believe in Indonesia not only because of the law of numbers
or the statistics, but especially because we know its
achievements in the past 30 years, and particularly its recent
history. No country in the world could have endured a terrible
economic crisis at exactly the same time as an unavoidable
political turnaround without collapsing or resorting to
dictatorship or extremism. Indonesia had the strength and the
inner balance to start instead the always troubled way to
democracy.
Italy and its culture are well-known in Indonesia. Who does
not remember Vespa, Fiat, Olivetti, Carlo Erba and others, so
present in Indonesia since the early 1960s. New names have been
joining the list, and IBAI was founded in 1994 to unite old and
new Italian companies present in Indonesia.
IBAI is with Indonesia, the vibrant Indonesia of today. In
order to become a better partner now and in the future, IBAI
wants to become soon a full-fledged bilateral Chamber of
Commerce. It is not only to join the other major trading partners
of Indonesia, but especially in order to join forces with
Indonesian companies interested in Italian products and in the
Italian market.
Together with our Embassy and the Italian-Indonesian Chamber
of Commerce and Industry will be the expression of Italy's
confirmed belief in the progress and the development of
Indonesia.
