TEGAL — Access to higher education in information technology in Tegal is expanding. Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) has officially opened two undergraduate programmes at its Tegal campus: Information Systems and Informatics, after securing approval from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).

The authorisation for the two programmes is set out in Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Decree No. 928/B/O/2026, issued in Jakarta on 24 August 2026. The decree grants the Bina Sarana Informatika Foundation permission to run undergraduate programmes in Information Systems and Informatics outside the university’s main campus.

The decree also states that both programmes have met the minimum accreditation requirements. The approval marks a step by UBSI to expand higher education provision and bring opportunities to study technology closer to people in Tegal and surrounding areas.

UBSI Rector Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Wahyudi welcomed the approval. He said the new programmes were part of the university’s commitment to providing technology education relevant to the needs of the public and developments in industry.

“We are very grateful for the trust placed in us by the government through Kemendiktisaintek. The arrival of the undergraduate Information Systems and Informatics programmes in Tegal is a tangible expression of UBSI’s dedication to bringing quality technology education closer to the public, while also responding to industry’s high demand for competent digital talent,” Prof Wahyudi said on Friday (9 October 2026).

Opening the programmes also requires the institution to be ready to deliver education in line with applicable standards. UBSI said it had prepared academic support and facilities for students at its Tegal campus.

“As an educational institution, we are fully committed to meeting national higher education standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. We have prepared modern computer laboratories, a curriculum adapted to technological developments, and professional teaching staff to support students’ studies,” he said.

Information Systems and Informatics are closely linked to the needs of digital transformation, both in managing information systems and developing technology-based solutions. Their presence in Tegal is expected to give prospective students more options to build digital skills without having to seek educational opportunities outside the region.

With the launch of the two undergraduate programmes, UBSI’s Tegal campus has broadened higher education choices for people preparing for the growth of the digital industry. The move is also part of UBSI’s efforts to help develop skilled human resources able to adapt to the evolving demands of technology.
