It Happens Again: Mother in Banten Carried on a Stretcher After Giving Birth Due to Damaged Roads
Based on a viral video viewed by detikcom on Tuesday (12/5/2026), several residents can be seen carrying Umayah using bamboo and a sarong cloth. They carried her from the Lewibalang village health post to her home, covering a distance of about 300 metres, on Sunday (10/5) last week.
According to residents, this phenomenon keeps recurring. It happens because the road conditions are severely damaged, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through.
“It happens very often that people have to be carried. The damaged road conditions are the cause,” said a local resident named Angga when approached for confirmation.
Angga said that when residents fall ill, bamboo and sarongs must be available as equipment to access medical services. He revealed a more tragic incident when a resident died while being carried.
“There are cases where people died while being carried, on their way to seek treatment,” said Angga, who is also a medical worker in the village.
Angga stated that these heartbreaking events often occur due to the poor condition of road infrastructure in the area, which has yet to receive serious attention from the government. He hopes the government will soon take concrete steps to prevent this from continuing to happen.
“Just measure the road with the government, but it’s never built,” he said.
