Isuzu to control GM trucks
TOKYO: Isuzu Motors Ltd. and the U.S. auto giant General Motors Corp. have agreed for Isuzu to take full control of their joint commercial truck businesses in Australia, Isuzu Motors said on Monday.
To help GM with its business performance, Isuzu will make Isuzu-General Motors Australia Ltd. its complete subsidiary, according to Japan's daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun. Isuzu currently has a 60 percent and General Motors a 40 percent share of the joint venture.
Isuzu plans to become the core truck producer in the GM group so that GM can focus on the passenger car segment.
Isuzu also plans to strengthen its business with GM in South Africa, where GM manufactures and markets trucks, according to the business daily. -- DPA
