Isuzu Becomes Sole Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer with Full TKDN Certification

The Ministry of Industry has stated that PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) is the sole commercial vehicle manufacturer whose entire product line has received local content (TKDN) certification. This announcement was made during the ceremony marking the production of the 300,000th unit at the Isuzu Karawang Plant in West Java, a milestone achieved over the plant’s ten years of operation since 2015. “Today, Isuzu holds 33 TKDN certificates with a fairly high range; the highest TKDN plus BMP score is above 62 percent. This is an extraordinary achievement and a pioneering effort in the automotive industry’s commitment to increasing the use of domestic products,” said Kris Sasono Ngudi Wibowo, Head of the Centre for Increasing the Use of Domestic Products at the Ministry of Industry. The achievement reflects Isuzu’s commitment to strengthening the use of local components and supporting the national industrial structure through the involvement of the domestic supply chain. The Ministry expressed hope that this success would inspire other automotive companies to enhance local content and collaboration with national industries. The Karawang plant currently produces the Isuzu ELF, Isuzu GIGA, and Isuzu Traga, with the latter being the highest volume model, as well as UD Trucks Quester and Kuzer for the domestic market. Since 2019, the facility has also served as a production hub for exports, shipping vehicles to 25 countries including Japan, South Africa, the Philippines, and Panama.
