Istiqlal Mosque to Host Muharram 1448 H Events, Here's the Schedule

To welcome and celebrate the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijriah, Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque will hold a series of religious activities open to the public. The event, titled Peaceful Muharram Islamic New Year 1448 H, will take place on 15-16 June 2026 on the Main Floor of Istiqlal Mosque. Members of the public wishing to attend do not need to register and may come directly according to the announced schedule.

Based on an official post by the Istiqlal Mosque account in collaboration with the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Islamic New Year 1448 H commemoration carries the theme ‘Menebar Maslahat Menguatkan Umat’ (Spreading Benefit, Strengthening the Community). The event will feature the Minister of Religious Affairs and Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., alongside preacher Ust. Muh. Nur Maulana. All activities will be centred on the Main Floor of Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta.

One of the main agendas is the Tabligh Akbar (Grand Sermon) for the Islamic New Year 1448 H, featuring Ust. Muh. Nur Maulana as the speaker. It will be held on Monday, 15 June 2026, from 20:40 to 21:40 WIB. The full schedule for the Peaceful Muharram 1448 H events is as follows:

Monday, 15 June 2026:

• 04:35-17:48 WIB: Simaan Al-Qur’an Al Karim Bil Hifzi (Qur’an recitation from memory)

• 17:48-18:28 WIB: Maghrib congregational prayer

• 19:03-19:58 WIB: Isha congregational prayer

• 19:58-20:38 WIB: Peak commemoration of the Islamic New Year’s Eve 1448 H

• 20:38-21:38 WIB: Tabligh Akbar for the Hijri New Year 1448 H

Tuesday, 16 June 2026:

• 01:00-02:00 WIB: Qiyamullail (night vigil)

• 02:00-03:00 WIB: Tasbih, Tahajud, and Witir prayers

• 03:00-03:30 WIB: Reflection by the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque

• 05:08 WIB onwards: Fajr congregational prayer

All activities are open to the general public without the need for prior registration.
