Masjid Istiqlal in Jakarta will not distribute sacrificial meat directly after slaughter. The meat will be allocated to the public through institutions pre-registered by the mosque.

“Here at Masjid Istiqlal, there is no individual distribution of animals. We will hand them over to the organisations I mentioned earlier, who are responsible for delivering to the rightful recipients,” said Grand Imam of Masjid Istiqlal, Nasaruddin Umar, at the mosque in Jakarta on Thursday, 28 June 2026.

Idul Adha Committee Chairman Mas’ud Halimin stated that slaughtering will conclude by midday, with meat distributed to institutions that submitted proposals in advance.

“Insha’Allah, everything will be completed within one day. At 11:00, we will begin distribution, organised in shifts to prevent overcrowding at Istiqlal, ensuring recipients are verified as per our checks last night,” he added.

The sacrificial meat distribution is not limited to Jabodetabek institutions. Additionally, 50 butchers have been deployed at Masjid Istiqlal.

“This distribution is based on registered foundations, not only in Jabodetabek but also extending to other areas, including pesantrens, institutions, and universities,” he explained.

Masjid Istiqlal commenced sacrificial animal slaughter today, with a total of 78 animals, including cows donated by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Sixty-five cows and 13 goats will be slaughtered, yielding approximately 10 tonnes of meat for distribution.
