Istiqlal Mosque Receives 63 Sacrificial Cows, Distributed to Staff and Partners
Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated that Istiqlal Mosque has received 63 cows, 18 goats, and one sheep for the Eid al-Adha sacrifice in 1447 Hijriah. Nasaruddin said the mosque is still accepting sacrificial animals until Friday, 29 May, with slaughter scheduled from Thursday, 28 May to Saturday, 30 May. “We are still accepting until day after tomorrow,” Nasaruddin said after Eid al-Adha prayers at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May. Istiqlal Mosque has a list of recipients for this year’s sacrificial meat distribution. A total of 300 meat packages will be distributed to staff within the mosque. Specifically, 260 recipients are cleaning staff, while the remaining 40 are security personnel and mosque employees. “Here, we are distributing only 300 packages, not through open coupons, but based on our staff attendance records,” Nasaruddin explained. In addition to internal staff, the sacrificial meat is also distributed to Istiqlal Mosque’s partner network, including affiliated mosques, orphanages, taklim gatherings, Islamic higher education institutions, boarding schools, and madrasahs connected with the mosque. “Insha’Allah, we will continue this annually and it will be accountable,” Nasaruddin added. He believes that the transparent distribution system has increased public trust in Istiqlal Mosque, with more parties entrusting sacrificial animals to the mosque each year.
