Issues of Fuel Price Increases and Subsidised Fuel Restrictions, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources: Please Be Patient
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has addressed concerns regarding rumours of increases in non-subsidised fuel prices and restrictions on subsidised fuel. Inspector General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yudhiawan Wibisono, emphasised that no official government decision has been made on this matter. “Up to today, we ask for patience; there is no official decision from the government. So, those various news reports are still unclear,” Yudhiawan stated during the closing of the National ESDM Sector Post for the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 period at the BPH Migas Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Yudhiawan requested that the public wait patiently for the official government decision. With no government decision in place, Yudhiawan said that policies on increasing non-subsidised fuel prices or restricting subsidised fuel cannot yet be implemented. “So, as I see it, until there is a decision from the government, it means it’s not in effect yet. Please be patient,” Yudhiawan said. Previously, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi conveyed the government’s statement regarding the issues circulating in society about plans to adjust or increase fuel oil prices. Prasetyo said he had coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina, following instructions from the President. “That is why Pertamina has stated that it will not adjust prices for either subsidised or non-subsidised fuel,” Prasetyo said. Prasetyo noted that Prabowo always prioritises the interests of the people and society in making decisions. Prasetyo hopes that with this statement, the public can obtain clearer and more accurate information. “We hope the public does not need to panic or worry because we guarantee the availability of fuel. We guarantee it. And there will be no price adjustments,” Prasetyo said.
