Israel's Military Chief: We Will Destroy the Iranian Regime
General Eyal Zamir, Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), said that his troops had destroyed the Iranian regime. He stated that Israel would capitalise on every opportunity to achieve its goals.
“We have destroyed the Iranian terrorist regime and will capitalise on every opportunity to deepen our achievements,” Zamir told soldiers, according to a statement released by the military, as reported by AFP on Saturday 7 March 2026.
The statement came a day after he announced that the US-Israel joint campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran had entered a new phase.
On Thursday he said the military campaign had entered the “next phase” and warned that additional surprises awaited Tehran.
Israel Attacks 400 Targets in Iran
Israel began striking Iran on Saturday 28 February last week. By Friday 6 March local time, Israeli forces said they had attacked more than 400 targets across Iran in a single day.
According to Al Jazeera and AFP, on Saturday 7 March, the Israeli army, via Telegram, said that in the Shahroud area in western Iran, Israeli forces destroyed a truck moving a ballistic defence system to another location. The army attached aerial photographs that appeared to show a truck on an unknown road. There was no immediate response from Iran.
“More than 400 targets were hit in several areas of Iran, including ballistic missile launchers and Iran’s UAV storage facilities,” the army said in a statement.
