Beirut (ANTARA) - Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported 56 deaths and 103 injuries from Israeli attacks within the past 24 hours. The ministry stated on Tuesday (26 May) that 3,213 civilians had been killed and 9,737 injured since the attacks began on 2 March. ‘As of 27 May, the death toll from Israeli aggression reached 3,269 with 9,840 injured,’ the health ministry said on Wednesday (27 May). Israeli fighter jets attacked 47 towns and villages in southern and eastern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to a Lebanese military source cited by RIA Novosti. The source said the attacks primarily targeted major cities such as Nabatieh and Tyre, along with several areas in the Bekaa Valley. On 16 April, direct talks between Lebanon and Israel at ambassadorial level took place in Washington. Following the talks, US President Donald Trump announced that both sides had reached a ceasefire agreement. Despite the formal agreement, Israel has continued to attack dozens of settlements in southern Lebanon daily and maintains shelling on border areas. Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement has launched military operations against Israeli forces in response to the ongoing situation.
