Israeli Strike on Tyre, Lebanon, Injures 10 Hospital Staff
Israel launched a strike targeting the city of Tyre in Lebanon, injuring 10 hospital staff members. Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli attacks targeted several areas in southern Lebanon and a village in the eastern Baalbek region, far from the Israeli border. Three hospitals in the historic city of Tyre sustained damage from the strikes. Dr Salman Aydibi, director of Hiram Hospital, said an area located about 15 metres from the hospital was hit, wounding 10 medical and administrative staff. He added that the strike shattered windows and damaged cars parked in front of the hospital. “This is the sixth time the hospital area has been targeted by Israeli strikes since the start of the war,” he said. On Tuesday, the Israeli military ordered the entire city of Tyre to evacuate, with an AFP correspondent witnessing residents fleeing northwards. On Wednesday, Israeli air strikes killed at least 12 people, including three in a strike targeting a vehicle in the city of Sidon, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Lebanon was drawn into the Middle East war on 2 March, when Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
