Israeli President Isaac Herzog made a phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Herzog expressed his concern for Ukraine’s fate after it became a victim of the Russian invasion over the past four years.

As reported by AFP on Thursday (26/2/2026), the phone call took place today. Herzog conveyed his support for the Ukrainian people.

“President Herzog conveyed his deepest condolences to President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine for the devastating loss of life and offered prayers for all those who are physically and spiritually wounded,” said a statement from Herzog’s office.

During the phone call with Zelensky, Isaac Herzog stated that he was ready to provide diplomatic support to Ukraine. Israel, Herzog said, is also ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

“During the phone conversation, President Herzog mentioned Israel’s support for Ukraine in the recent vote at the UN General Assembly, as well as Israel’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the war,” the statement added.

Herzog’s office said that the Israeli president and Zelensky also discussed significant international efforts led by US President Donald Trump to end the war and the suffering and terrible loss of life.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing since February 24, 2022. Hundreds of thousands of people from both countries have died to date.
