TEL AVIV — The Israeli military is reportedly seeking additional systems and technology from the United States (US) to counter Hezbollah drone attacks, according to Anadolu. On Wednesday, 27 May 2026, several military bases in northern Israel were hit by bombs carried by militant drones.

According to KAN reports, Hezbollah launched at least six drone attacks on northern Israel, some of which successfully detonated at military positions. Following the incidents, Field Commander Major General Nadav Lotan is reported to be travelling to the US in the coming days to seek weaponry systems to counter drone threats.

Senior IDF officials told KAN that there is “no budget constraint” in efforts to counter Hezbollah drone attacks. KAN also reported that the Israeli military has made significant efforts to improve drone attack warning systems for soldiers in the field, including a new system with technology comparable to anti-tank missile warning systems.

KAN reports that in the past 24 hours, Hezbollah has continued drone attacks against Israeli troops in southern Lebanon and those stationed within Israel, targeting military positions in northern Israel. It is reported that IDF still lacks effective response capabilities to drone attacks despite frequently claiming to possess advanced detection and interception systems.

KAN also reported that some IDF members in a northern occupied territory of Israel were injured by drone explosion while attempting to assist other Israeli soldiers who were attacked minutes earlier. Hezbollah is said to be escalating tactics targeting troops first, followed by drone strikes on evacuation and rescue points of the attacked IDF units.

On Wednesday morning, Hezbollah stated they launched drone attacks targeting IDF troop assembly points and military vehicles, including an Iron Dome launch site at the Jal al-Allam military base in northern Israel. Hezbollah drones have become a growing concern for Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing them as a “major threat” due to their difficulty in detection.
