The Israeli government has reportedly shared the latest intelligence with the United States regarding a new plan by Iran to assassinate President Donald Trump. The classified report, shared this week, immediately triggered a fresh surge in tensions, precisely as the ceasefire agreement between the two countries stands on the brink of total collapse.

Citing a report by CNN International on Friday (10/07/2026), two sources familiar with the matter revealed that US intelligence had in fact picked up indications of a threat against Trump’s life in recent weeks. However, the latest information from Israel is considered crucial because it contains a far more specific warning about a new assassination plot being planned by Tehran.

Although the details of the plan remain unclear and have not been independently verified by the US military, the threat drew an immediate, forceful response from the president. The White House declined to comment further and referred to Trump’s latest remarks asserting that he now sits at the top of Iran’s assassination target list.

“They want to take out the leader of the US — that’s me,” Trump told reporters.

“I’m on every list. I saw this morning that I’m on every one of their lists. And so far, I think I’ve been rather lucky, but perhaps that won’t last. They are evil and sick people. And we have to wipe out that cancer. That cancer. You know what you have to do? You have to cut out that cancer early. And that’s how I feel,” Trump continued, reaffirming his stance.

Meanwhile, a number of senior US officials remain sceptical, suspecting that the Israeli intelligence report forms part of a covert effort to influence Washington’s foreign policy decisions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel is known to be deeply sceptical of the diplomatic route Trump is pursuing with Iran, particularly after crowds in Tehran chanted death threats against Trump during the funeral procession for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei last weekend.

Although Trump previously stated that the peace deal had ended following the exchange of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts are reportedly still under way to reach a nuclear agreement by the target date in mid-August. The situation on the ground remains shrouded in high alert, with the crew of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln seen keeping fully armed fighter jets on standby in anticipation of sudden orders for air strikes at any moment.
