Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has stated that his country is reluctant to become embroiled in endless war with Iran. The Israel-United States conflict with Iran has been ongoing for 11 days since 28 February 2026.

“We will continue until such time as we and our allies deem it appropriate to stop,” Saar said when commenting on the continuation of the conflict with Iran on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

“We do not desire endless war,” Saar added to media representatives in Jerusalem.

Saar made the statement whilst receiving a visit from German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. Previously, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had expressed growing concerns in Europe regarding the US-Israel war with Iran. Merz assessed that there appeared to be no plan yet to halt the conflict.

Gideon Saar was asked by media representatives about what criteria constituted victory for Israel in the conflict with Iran. “We want to eliminate, for the long term, the existential threat from Iran to Israel,” Saar responded to the question.

Previously, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps stated they were capable of engaging in intensive war with the US and Israel for six months. This contrasts with claims by US President Donald Trump, who stated Iran has surrendered.

“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are capable of continuing intensive warfare for at least six months at the current operational pace,” said Iran’s Revolutionary Guards spokesman Ali Mohammad Naini, as cited by the Fars news agency on Sunday, 8 March 2026.

Naini added that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have targeted more than 200 US and Israeli bases and facilities in the Middle East region. According to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council head Ali Larijani, the country’s recent attacks have killed more than 500 US soldiers.

Trump, through his Social Truth account, claimed Iran has surrendered following a series of attacks launched by the US against the country. Trump even stated that Iran would not launch further attacks.

“Iran, which is being destroyed utterly, has apologised and surrendered to its neighbours in the Middle East, and promised that they will not shoot again. This promise was made only because of the relentless attacks from the US and Israel,” Trump wrote on his Social Truth account on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
