Israeli Forces Brutally Torture GSF Activists During 4-Day Detention, Forcing Crawl and Sleep on Wet Floors

Indonesian volunteer Herman Budianto, part of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission, has revealed brutal torture by Israeli forces against international activists detained after their aid convoy to Gaza was intercepted in the Mediterranean Sea.

Herman stated that violence began during the interception process and continued throughout the four-day detention, describing Israeli authorities’ treatment as inhumane.

‘We confirm that the IDF’s torture is real, extremely vile and brutal,’ Herman said at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday, 25 May 2026.

According to Herman, volunteers suffered various physical abuses during detention, with many sustaining severe injuries from alleged assault.

‘From the abduction process to the lengthy four-day torture,’ he said.

‘Many have serious injuries—broken ribs, arms, legs, noses, and some were shot,’ Herman added.

He also reported sexual harassment against both male and female volunteers during detention.

‘Numerous cases of sexual harassment were endured by both men and women during the prolonged detention,’ he explained.

Herman described inhumane prison conditions, with detainees forced to crawl on their knees, keep their heads bowed, and avoid eye contact with Israeli officials.

‘Additionally, while in prison, we were treated like animals—forced to crawl on our knees, always keeping heads bowed, forbidden from looking at them,’ Herman said.

Volunteers were also made to sleep on wet floors without blankets or pillows, and remained in soaked clothing throughout detention.

‘We slept on wet floors without blankets or pillows, and our clothes stayed wet,’ he stated.
