Beirut (ANTARA) - Israeli military activity continued in the southern Lebanon region on Wednesday (1/7), with drone strikes, artillery fire, explosions, and other military operations reported in several areas, according to Lebanon’s official news agency, National News Agency (NNA).

On Wednesday afternoon local time, an Israeli drone launched an airstrike targeting a parked vehicle in the Deir area of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, southern Lebanon. Less than 30 minutes later, the drone launched a second strike on the same town.

NNA reported that volunteers from local aid organisations came under fire from Israeli forces on the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa while travelling to extinguish a fire caused by the missile-guided strike. No casualties were reported.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, an Israeli drone dropped three stun grenades on the town of Yater in southern Lebanon, while another drone dropped one stun grenade on the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

On Wednesday night local time, Israeli forces were reported to have triggered large explosions around the town of Rshaf in the Bint Jbeil District, southern Lebanon. NNA also reported another explosion in the neighbouring town of Beit Yahoun.

Israeli artillery subsequently shelled the outskirts of Beit Yahoun and simultaneously swept the eastern outskirts of the town towards the neighbouring town of Haddatha, in the Bint Jbeil District, NNA reported.

Separately, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health stated that the total death toll from Israeli attacks since 2 March has reached 4,297 people. Meanwhile, the number of wounded has reportedly reached 12,196 people.

These recent incidents continue to occur despite Lebanon and Israel having recently reached a framework agreement aimed at ending fighting along the borders of the two countries.
