Israeli Attack in Lebanon Also Injures 3 TNI Peacekeeping Troops
One TNI personnel integrated into the UNIFIL peacekeeping force in Lebanon was killed as a result of an Israeli attack. In addition, three other TNI personnel were injured due to artillery fire from Israel.
“There are casualties from TNI soldiers, namely one person deceased, one in serious condition, and two with minor injuries who are currently receiving medical treatment,” said the Head of the Defense Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan), Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, as reported by Antara on Monday (30/3/2026).
Rico explained that the incident on Sunday (29/3) was due to the escalation of conflict intensifying in the Lebanon region between Israel and Hezbollah.
The conflict escalation intensified until the artillery attack targeted the location of the Indonesian contingent in the city of Adshit al-Qusyar in southern Lebanon.
“It should be noted that the incident occurred amid mutual artillery exchanges, and the clarification process is still being carried out by UNIFIL,” Rico clarified.
Rico assured that TNI Headquarters would provide more complete and up-to-date information regarding the incident. “Further operational developments will be conveyed by TNI,” he said.
