REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GAZA — Palestinian Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal announced that 29 Palestinians were martyred in ongoing Israeli aggression during the Eid al-Adha holiday. The casualties included many women and children, further intensifying the humanitarian crisis faced by Gaza’s civilian population.

Despite severe shortages of equipment, operational resources, and emergency response capabilities, Civil Defense teams continued rescue operations. On Saturday, they handled nine separate incidents, evacuating victims from rubble, transporting the injured, and assisting civilians trapped in areas still under attack.

Basal stressed that emergency personnel are working under extremely difficult conditions, with the gap between urgent on-ground needs and available resources widening. He warned that rising civilian casualties, particularly women and children, place an urgent moral and humanitarian responsibility on the international community to act immediately.

Basal reiterated calls for the United Nations (UN), international mediators, and all relevant parties to take urgent steps to protect Palestinians, halt attacks on populated areas, and provide critical support to humanitarian and emergency services to continue life-saving operations and reduce civilian suffering.

According to recent data released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 929 Palestinians have been martyred and 2,811 injured since the ‘ceasefire’ began on 10 October. Additionally, 781 bodies have been recovered from various locations across the Gaza Strip.

Cumulative ministry data shows that since the start of the Israeli genocide in Gaza on 7 October 2023, the death toll has risen to 72,938, with 172,919 Palestinians reported injured.

In a recent incident on Saturday (7 June 2026), one Palestinian was martyred and several others injured when Israeli forces attacked a police station in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. The attack occurred as Israeli troops continued to violate the ceasefire in the encircled Palestinian pocket on the fourth day of Eid al-Adha.

Local media identified the martyred individual as Jamal Abu Aoun, head of the Anaesthesia Department at Yaffa Hospital. Field reports indicated that Israeli artillery batteries increased bombing intensity in eastern Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Meanwhile, Israeli military vehicles were actively maneuvering along eastern frontlines.

Heavy machine gun fire was also reported in southern and eastern outskirts of the city, causing widespread panic among residents and keeping Palestinians under constant threat.
