Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Thursday (10/9) killed a family of four, including two children. The incident was confirmed by hospital sources and Palestinian security officials. The Israeli military claimed the attack targeted an operative involved in military operations.

Medical personnel at Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza City, reported that the bodies of the four members of the Ahmad family were found in a devastating condition after the strike hit a house in the Beit Lahla Project area, North Gaza. The two children among the victims were identified as being aged twelve and eight.

On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they attacked a military structure previously identified as a base for terrorist operations. The military claimed the strike successfully eliminated Muamen Abd al-Rahman Ahmad.

“The strike eliminated Muamen Abd al-Rahman Ahmad, a military operative directly involved in combat against IDF forces, which constitutes a violation of the ceasefire,” the official Israeli military statement read.

Sources from Gaza security forces operating under the Hamas authority mentioned that Israeli fighter jets launched attacks after midnight in Beit Lahia and separately in the heart of the Jabalia refugee camp. In addition to the airstrikes, Israeli forces reportedly opened fire towards refugee tents and ambulances.

“Israel continues its violations in the Gaza Strip,” the security source stated.

Although Israel agreed to a US-mediated ceasefire last October, its forces continue to advance further into Gaza territory. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted that there will be no cessation of attacks against Hamas, which led the October 7, 2023, attacks, and has refused to withdraw troops until Hamas surrenders all weapons.

To date, the situation in northern Gaza remains tense, with military operations ongoing amidst a worsening humanitarian crisis for civilians remaining in the conflict zone.
