Israel Urges Citizens to Evacuate as Iran Launches Missile Attacks

Iran launched a missile strike against Israel on Sunday morning. Air-raid sirens wailed in northern Israel as warnings of missiles from Iran arrived, and residents were urged to seek shelter in shelters. According to AFP, on Sunday (8 March 2026), the Israeli military said its air defences had responded to ‘missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel’. There were no reports of damage or casualties in the incident. The warning sirens were activated in much of northern Israel, including the port city of Haifa, according to the Home Front Command, which ordered residents to go to shelter or a safe space. The warning has since been lifted. The Israeli military said ‘citizens are now allowed to leave protected areas in all parts of the country’. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported several missiles had been launched, and most of them were intercepted. It is known that the missile attack by Iran in the war, which began with the US-Israel strike on Iran on 28 February, has killed 10 people in Israel.
