Two members of Iran’s air defence unit were reportedly killed in an Israeli attack. The information was conveyed by Iran’s state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). According to IRIB, the two personnel died whilst carrying out their duties protecting Iranian airspace on Monday (8/6/2026) local time. “Both died whilst on a mission to defend the country’s airspace,” the IRIB report stated. Additionally, a Tehran Municipality employee was also reported killed in the same attack. The semi-official Fars news agency noted that with this additional casualty, the confirmed death toll in Iran has now reached three people. Amid the incident, Israel and Iran reinstated a ceasefire after exchanging missile attacks on Sunday and Monday. The exchange of strikes had sparked fears of a major escalation in the conflict between the two countries. Nevertheless, Tehran warned it would continue attacks if Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon persist. Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump stated the opportunity for reaching an agreement with Iran is increasingly open. Trump said a deal could be achieved in the near future. “A deal with Iran can be reached in two or three days,” Trump said. He claimed the deal would stop Iran from possessing nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a short time.
