Israel Strikes Beirut Again, Breaching Ceasefire

The Israeli military carried out an airstrike on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Sunday, despite an ongoing ceasefire between the two sides. According to an Anadolu correspondent, Israeli fighter jets bombed the Dahiyeh area without prior warning. Two explosions were heard in the area, while plumes of smoke were seen rising from the targeted location. In a statement, the Israeli military claimed the strike targeted a site allegedly linked to the Hezbollah group in the area. The attack was carried out even though the ceasefire, which came into effect on 17 April, remains in force. The Israeli military has continued bombing raids in Lebanon since 2 March and still occupies several areas in the southern part of the country. According to data from Lebanese authorities, Israeli attacks since 2 March have resulted in more than 3,700 deaths, nearly 11,500 injuries, and forced over 1.5 million residents to flee.
