Israel Shocked as US and Iran Move Closer to Deal to End War

The increasingly imminent signing of a memorandum of understanding to end the war between the United States (US) and Iran appears to have shaken Tel Aviv. A senior Israeli official, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth and cited by Al Mayadeen on Sunday (14/6/2026), described the agreement between the US and Iran as damaging to Israeli interests and proof that Israel’s influence over Washington in decision-making has vanished.

According to the official, the agreement between the US and Iran is “not a good agreement” and he warned of its strategic implications for Israel.

“This is not a good deal. No one is satisfied with it. Everyone understands that this deal is not good for us and disrupts Israeli interests,” the senior Israeli official said.

“What is worrying is that Israel cannot influence, and its voice is not heard,” he added.

Senior Israeli officials are also reportedly frustrated with US President Donald Trump’s approach to the negotiation process with Iran, claiming that Israel has been marginalised from key developments in the negotiations. “Trump deceived us, and we are swallowing the consequences,” the official said.

“We are no longer part of the process and are not effectively able to influence them.”

The senior Israeli official revealed that they were ‘shocked’ by reports that the US and Iran are soon to sign a memorandum of understanding to end the war. He assessed that Iran will be in a stronger position after the deal is signed.

“They are showering Iran with money, and they are getting what they asked for. They will build up missile strength, and will invest heavily in missile interception.”
