Israel Secretly Builds Covert Military Base in Iraqi Desert
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEL AVIV – Israel is reportedly secretly building a military outpost in the Iraqi desert to support its air campaign against Iran. Zionist personnel even launched an attack on Iraqi forces that nearly discovered it. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing US officials familiar with the matter. “The secret base was established shortly before the US and Israel launched their military campaign against Iran at the end of February,” the report stated. The US is said to be aware of the installation, which houses Israeli special forces. The outpost functions as a logistics centre for the Israeli Air Force and accommodates search-and-rescue teams in case Israeli pilots are shot down. The site nearly came to light in early March after a local shepherd noticed unusual military activity, including helicopter flights. The shepherd then alerted the authorities. Iraqi troops subsequently moved to investigate the location but came under heavy fire. The attack resulted in one Iraqi soldier killed and two others wounded.
